There are seasons in life that change us.
My former blog, Abuse Journal, documented the journey through the darkness—seasons marked by fear, betrayal, loss, heartbreak, grief, and lingering emotional pain.
Seasons where we silently carry heavy burdens and scattered pieces of ourselves, trying to begin again while wondering whether a better life is even possible.
My memoir, The Secret Darkness: Overcoming Abuse and Finding Freedom, shares the story of that journey. Abuse Journal: Reflections of a Survivor’s Healing Journey explores many of the lessons learned along the way. The Remnants Journal continues that conversation, offering a place for reflection, healing, faith, and restoration.
Here, you’ll find encouragement for healing, rebuilding, creativity, faith, and learning to live beyond the darkness.
The Remnants Journal does not promise quick answers or pretend the past did not leave scars. Instead, it offers a space for self-reflection, honesty, faith, restoration, and gentle renewal. A place to sit with what has been wounded, uncovered, remembered, or carried in silence—and begin tending to those places with compassion.
Healing is rarely quick. Often, it begins with:
- A single honest thought
- A page filled with truth
- A quiet prayer
- A willingness to begin again
Whether you are healing from childhood adversity, abuse, domestic violence, loss, or other difficult experiences, this journal was created to encourage reflection, growth, and hope.
There is no perfect way to move through these pages. Some reflections may come easily, while others may stir emotions you thought were long buried. Give yourself permission to move gently, honestly, and at your own pace.
As you reflect, remember that healing is a journey. There may be difficult moments along the way, but keep moving forward. Even remnants can become something beautiful, restored, and whole again.
May this journal help you rediscover hope, strength, faith, and the possibility of new life after deep hurt. May it remind you that what was fragmented is not beyond restoration.
With gentleness and hope,
L.M. CARLETON, Rescued by Grace
