Welcome, I’m L.M. CARLETON, a reflective life writer and creator of Abuse Journal.com, Crafters Journal.com, and The Remnants Journal.
I am also the author of the upcoming memoir, The Secret Darkness: Overcoming Abuse and Finding Freedom.
I didn’t create The Remnants Journal to be an authority.
I created it as a quiet place to reflect on the past—the hidden pieces, the unspoken stories, the things carried in silence.
The seasons marked by abuse, brokenness, uncertainty, and questions I didn’t have answers to.
The moments I felt alone, unseen, and too unloved to matter—shattered, as if mending my heart was impossible.
But over time, I began to notice something I hadn’t seen before.
God was present in every moment.
Even the ones I wanted to forget.
Even the ones I didn’t understand.
He wasn’t asking me to be perfect—He was inviting me to come as I was.
“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3 (KJV)
Abuse Journal documented the journey through the darkness. The Remnants Journal reflects on healing, rebuilding, creativity, faith, and learning to live beyond it.
And slowly, faithfully, He began to restore what was broken—to bring light into the darkness, to mend what felt beyond repair, and to reveal beauty in every season.
The Remnants Journal was born from that process.
This is a space to share stories openly—not from a place of having it all figured out, but from a place of being restored, day by day, by grace. My hope is that here, you feel seen, encouraged, and a little less alone.

As part of that journey, I also create handmade, nature-inspired journals designed to hold your story. A quiet place to reflect, process, and begin mending the pieces.
The remnants of your story are not beyond restoration.
Your past is not too broken.
And no part of your life is beyond healing.
This isn’t about perfection.
It’s about surrender.
It’s about healing by grace.
It’s about trusting God to take the scattered remnants and restore them beautifully.
Mending the pieces, one story at a time.
